The Norton Remove and Reinstall tool uninstalls most Norton products from your computer, and reinstalls the latest version of your Norton product. If you have any utility products like Norton Utilities or Norton Family, you have to uninstall them manually. Before you proceed, make sure that you have the installation media or the downloaded installation files of those products.
If you have a Norton Online product such as Norton AntiVirus Online, Norton Internet Security Online, or Norton 360 Online, provided by service providers other than Comcast or Deutsche Telekom, the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool is not compatible and you must download and run the Norton Removal Tool. Download the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.
Save the file to the Windows desktop.
On the Windows desktop, double-click theicon.
If you see the message "A Norton product was detected that is not supported by this version of Norton Remove and Reinstall…" download the Norton Removal Tool.
Clickand follow the on-screen instructions.
Restart the computer.
After the computer restarts, follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall your Norton product.
The Norton Remove and Reinstall tool is compatible with the following Norton products:
Norton AntiVirus 2009 and later versions
Norton Internet Security 2009 and later versions
Norton 360 Version 3.0 and later versions
Norton AntiVirus 2012 Online and later versions from Deutsche Telekom
Norton Internet Security 2012 Online and later versions from Deutsche Telekom
Norton Security Suite Version 6.0 and later versions from Comcast
Norton Business Suite Version 6.0 and later versions from Comcast
Norton Security and Norton Security with Backup
You need to have Internet access to run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool. To run the tool in Safe mode, you need to start the computer in Safe mode with Networking.
If your Norton product is from Comcast or Deutsche Telekom, the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool will not run in Windows Safe mode.
You should have activated your product using a Norton product key at least once.
If you have multiple user accounts on your computer, you need to log on as an administrator to run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.
