Error: (8921,252) "Unable to connect to the Norton LiveUpdate server..." when I run LiveUpdate in Norton Security Suite or Norton Business Suite


Configure LiveUpdate proxy settings

  1. Start your Norton product.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. Under Detailed Settings, click Administrative Settings.

  4. Next to Network Proxy Settings, click Configure.

  5. Depending on your situation, do one of the following:

    • If you do not use any proxy servers to access the Internet, make sure that all the options in the Network Proxy Settings window are unchecked.

    • If you use a proxy server to access the Internet, check Use a proxy server for HTTP connections and enter the correct details for Proxy Settings and Authentication.

  6. In the Network Proxy Settings window, click Apply and then click OK.

  7. Run LiveUpdate again.

    If the issue persists, go to Step 2.


Download and run the Norton Removal Tool

    The Norton Removal Tool uninstalls all Norton products from your computer. If you use ACT! or WinFax, back up those databases before you uninstall. For all discontinued products like Norton Ghost or WinFax, make sure that you have the installation files to reinstall the product.

  1. Download the Norton Removal Tool.

    Save the file to the Windows desktop.

  2. On the Windows desktop, double-click the Norton Removal Tool icon.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

  4. Restart your computer.

    After the computer restarts, follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall your Norton product.
