Remove Norton ConnectSafe from your computer's network connection settings

Configure network connection settings on Windows

  1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type in the following text, and then press Enter.

  3. Click the Network and Internet icon, and then click Network and Sharing Center. In the left pane, click Change adapter settings.

    On Windows XP: Double-click the Network Connections icon.

  4. Right-click the network adapter that is currently active, and then click Properties.

    If the User Account Control prompt appears, click Yes or Continue.

  5. In the Network Connection Properties window, under "This connection uses the following items", click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) or Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).

  6. Click Properties.

  7. Do one of the following:

    • To use different DNS servers, in the Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server text boxes, replace the Norton ConnectSafe server addresses with the IP addresses of the new DNS servers.

    • To use the default DNS settings provided by your Internet service provider, click Obtain DNS server address automatically.

  8. In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window, click OK.

  9. In the Network Connection Properties window, click OK.

Configure network connection settings on Mac

  1. From the Apple menu, click System Preferences, then click Network.

    In the bottom-left corner, if the lock icon shows locked status, click it to unlock. Type your administrator password to authenticate and press return.

  2. Select the network connection that is configured to use Norton ConnectSafe, and then click Advanced.

  3. On the DNS tab, remove the Norton ConnectSafe IP addresses.

    You may replace the Norton ConnectSafe server addresses with the IP addresses of the new DNS servers.

    To use the default DNS settings provided by your Internet service provider, enter the DNS server address manually.

  4. Click OK.

  5. Click Apply.
