Use Norton Utilities to free up disk space

Clean the disk drives

  1. Start Norton Utilities.

    If the User Account Control window appears, click Continue.

  2. In the right pane, click Clean Your Disks.

  3. In the Clean Windows Settings window, uncheck the items that you do not want to delete.

    Under Clean Windows Settings, all the items are selected by default.

  4. In the top toolbar, click Browsers.

  5. Check or uncheck the browsers and the items that you want to clean or skip.

    To skip specific cookies from deleting, in the bottom-left corner, click Select cookies to keep. Select the cookies, and then click Save.

  6. To delete the files from third party software, in the top toolbar, click Plugins.

    Check the items that you want to clean.

  7. If you want to clean the files that are not listed under any of the options, in the top toolbar, click Custom Items.

  8. To add new custom items, click Click here to start Custom Clean Wizard.

    Follow the prompt to add the custom items to clean. If you want these items to be cleaned each time you run Custom Clean Wizard, click Save.

  9. If you want to bleach the free space on the drives, click Free Space in the top toolbar.

    Check the drives which you want to bleach, click Save. To clean the deleted files from Master File Table, check Clean Master File Table Records.

  10. Click Clean.

    Norton Utilities scans and cleans the files to free the disk space.

  11. Some of the applications need to be restarted to complete the cleaning operation. If you see a prompt to restart the applications, click Restart.

  12. Click Continue.

  13. Click Close.
