Norton in Claude gives users a real-time scam and safety assessment inside the chat, rather than only a generic AI answer.
For scam-related prompts, Norton evaluates more than just a URL. It also looks at the full message context, including language, intent, urgency, impersonation patterns, and requests for sensitive information.
The result typically provides you with the following safety ratings:
Safe: The message, email, link, phone number, domain, or image is legitimate and safe to proceed with.
Malicious or Suspicious: The message, email, link, phone number, domain, or image is malicious and unsafe to visit or interact with.
Unknown: Norton does not have enough data to analyze the message, email, link, phone number, domain, or image. It is recommended that you do not visit or interact with the same.
Norton does not only check whether a link is known to be malicious. It also looks at the full context of a message, examining the language, intent, and tactics being used, along with URL and domain checks to spot common scam patterns such as impersonation, pressure to act quickly, and requests for sensitive information. Norton then provides clear, easy-to-understand guidance, explaining why something may be risky and what steps to take next, such as avoiding a reply, not clicking a link, or deleting the message altogether.
