Applicable for: Windows
The Authenticator feature in the Norton Password Manager mobile app generates a unique 6-digit temporary code every 30 seconds to verify your identity when logging in to specific websites. It prevents unauthorized access even if an attacker has your password and adds an extra layer of security beyond passwords alone.
The Authenticator works with any website that supports two-factor authentication. There is no fixed list of supported websites — if a website offers to set up an authenticator app or enable a 2FA option in its security settings, you can use Avira Password Manager's Authenticator with it.
Common examples include:
Google / Gmail
Twitter / X
Amazon
Microsoft Outlook
GitHub
Dropbox
To set up the Authenticator feature in Norton Password Manager, follow the steps below:
Open the website on which you want to use the Authenticator.
You must enable 2FA on the website you want to protect.
Open the Norton Password Manager app on your Android or iOS device and unlock your vault.
Tap Authenticator (2FA) at the bottom of the Home screen.
Select Authenticator, then tap Scan the QR code.
Allow camera access when prompted.
Point your camera at the QR code displayed on the website.
The authenticator entry is added to your app and starts generating codes immediately.
