Your Norton plan allows protection for a limited number of devices. This article helps you quickly see how many devices your plan supports, how many you are already using, and what to do if you need to add a new device.
Your Norton subscription includes a set number of device licenses, which determines how many devices you can protect. One license protects one device, such as a PC, Mac, smartphone, or tablet. For example, a 5-device plan lets you protect up to 5 devices at the same time.
Used devices are the ones where Norton is already installed and using a device slot in your plan. For example, if your plan lets you protect 5 devices and Norton is installed on your laptop and your phone, those 2 are your used devices.
Available devices, or available slots, are the remaining device spots in your plan that you have not used yet. In the same 5-device plan, if 2 devices are already protected, you still have 3 available slots for another computer, phone, or tablet.
When all device slots are used:
Your subscription stays active even if Norton is not installed on any device yet. If your subscription expires, all connected devices lose protection, and you have to renew or purchase a new plan to stay protected.
You may see more devices listed than expected if Norton was reinstalled, if you stopped using a device, or if a device was reset or renamed. In Manage Devices, review the list and remove any duplicates, offline entries, or old devices you no longer use.
If all your device slots are in use and you want to free up space, follow these steps:
Removing the device is recommended only if it is lost or is no longer in use. After removing the device, that device is no longer protected, and the slot becomes available for another device.
