This article helps you fix the 'Activation limit exceeded' error (code -2040) that can appear when you activate the Norton app or sign in. This usually happens when the app has already been activated on the maximum number of devices.
Sign in to your Norton account.
In the top-right corner of the page, hover over the account icon or photo and click My Subscriptions.
On the My Subscriptions page, select the subscription you want to manage.
Under the product, click Manage Devices.
In the pop-up window, select the affected device, then under Remove Device, click the trash icon.
Click Remove to confirm.
Return to the Norton App and try activating the app again.
Activation should complete. If you still need help, contact Member Services and Support.
