Use IP Rotation in Norton VPN to update your IP address randomly

The IP Rotation feature in Norton VPN automatically changes your IP address regularly to help prevent tracking, avoid targeted ads, and increase anonymity. It improves your anonymity by masking your real IP address and making it harder for third parties to track or profile you. It can also help you access more diverse and accurate data and content online, as some websites may show different results based on your IP address. The IP address will automatically change every 30 seconds.

Key Considerations for IP Rotation

  • IP Rotation provides a high level of online security and anonymity. It is recommended that you use your regular country or city-level locations to connect to your VPN for casual browsing activities

  • IP Rotation is not optimized for streaming services

  • Since IP Rotation changes your IP address every time you visit a new website, you may see an impact on the VPN performance

  • If a website does not load while using IP Rotation, you can change to your regular country locations to connect to your VPN

Downloading large files may take a longer time or fail when you use IP Rotation.

To use IP Rotation in Norton VPN, depending on your operating system, follow the steps below:

Windows or Mac

Norton VPN

  1. Open Norton VPN on your desktop.

  2. On the Norton dashboard, click the drop-down list next to the country name.

    In the Change VPN Location screen, under Advanced Servers, click IP Rotation. If you see an IP Rotation prompt, click Connect.

Norton 360

Important: Currently, IP Rotation is supported only on Mac. Support for Windows is expected soon.

  1. Open your Norton device security app.

  2. On the left pane, click Privacy.

  3. Under the Secure VPN tile, click Open.

  4. Click the Status tab, and next to the region, click the drop-down arrow.

  5. In the Change VPN Location window, under Advanced Servers, click IP Rotation. If you see an IP Rotation prompt, click Connect.

Android or iOS

  1. Launch Norton VPN.

  2. On the Norton VPN screen, tap the drop-down list at the bottom.

  3. On the Change VPN location screen, under Advanced Servers, tap IP Rotation.

    If you see an IP Rotation prompt, tap Connect.

You can also manually enable IP rotation on your Windows or Mac device. Follow the steps below to enable IP rotation manually:

Norton VPN

  1. Launch Norton VPN.

  2. On the Norton dashboard, click Connect.

  3. On the Norton VPN screen, click the Refresh icon Sample alt text.

    Norton VPN will automatically change the IP address.

Norton 360

Important: Currently, Refresh IP is supported only on Mac. Support for Windows is expected soon.

  1. Open your Norton device security app.

  2. On the left pane, click Security.

  3. Under the Secure VPN tile, click Open.

  4. Click the Status tab and click Refresh IP.
