Applicable for: Mac
Real-Time Protection loads into memory when the Mac starts, providing constant protection while you work.
The Real-Time Protection feature uses the threat signatures that Norton receives during virus definition updates and other security updates to determine the safety of an executable file.
When Real-Time Protection detects a malicious file, it works to quarantine the infected file by default and automatically deletes the malicious file. If it cannot repair an infected file, it does not let you access it. To handle any irreparable infected files, you should scan your entire Mac for viruses and then scan any infected files that are found.
After dealing with an infected file, you should scan your entire computer for viruses to detect any other infections.
Keep Real-Time Protection always turned on to prevent viruses from infecting your Mac. Real-Time Protection works in the background without interrupting your work.
Real-Time Protection includes the following options:
Auto-Protect: Checks for malware each time you or an app tries to run, open, or modify a file.
Notify me about potentially unwanted programs: Scans for and notify you about programs that are stealthily downloaded with other programs and typically perform unwanted activity.
Scan for Tools: Tools are apps that can access, control, or potentially harm computers.
External Drive Protection: Scan all external drives connected to your Mac.
