Find the exact chip or processor on your Mac

Apple started transitioning from Intel processors to Apple Silicon Processors in Mac computers with the models introduced in late 2020.
A Mac computer with an ARM64-based processor is commonly called an Apple Silicon Mac, while one featuring an Intel processor is known as an Intel-based Mac.

To find the chip or processor that your Mac uses, do the following:
  1. Click the Apple null icon on the menu bar at the top-left corner of your screen, and then select About This Mac.
  2. The Chip/Processor information is displayed on the Overview tab.
    About Apple Silicon Mac
    About Intel Mac
For more information about the Apple Chip/Processor, read the Apple Support Article.
