Update your hardware drivers to the latest version with Norton Driver Updater

Instructions in this article help you use Norton Driver Updater to scan your computer for outdated drivers and update them to the latest available version.

Your computer needs to be connected to the Internet for Norton Driver Updater to update your drivers.

By default, Norton Driver Updater scans your computer to identify the outdated drivers soon after installation. However, you can follow the instructions below to manually run a scan to identify and update the outdated drivers.

Important: Do not turn off your computer or disconnect your Internet connection while Norton Driver Updater is updating your drivers.

  1. Open Norton Driver Updater.

  2. In the Norton Driver Updater window, click Scan drivers or Scan again.

  3. Wait for Norton Driver Updater to complete the scan.

    After the scan completes, Norton Driver Updater displays all drivers and groups them based on the driver categories.

  4. Select the drivers that you want to update and click Update selected drivers. To review each driver, click the drop-down arrow next to the driver category, click View details, and you can do one of the following:

    • To update to the latest version, click Update. To skip this update, click the three dots icon and click Skip this update.

    • To revert or restore to the older version, click Restore.

    • To ignore this driver update, click Ignore this driver.

  5. Wait for Norton Driver Updater to update your drivers. This may take some time.

  6. Click Done after updating the driver to the latest version.

    Some drivers may require a system restart to complete the update. If prompted to restart your computer, click Restart.

    In some cases, Norton Driver Updater may not be able to successfully update a driver. In such cases, try updating the outdated driver again after some time. You can click Continue and finish updating the remaining outdated drivers or click Close if there are no outdated drivers to update.

  7. To view the details about the last scan results, click See last scan results and you can view the drivers listed under the following categories:

    • Outdated: Lists the outdated drivers.

    • Updated: Lists the drivers that are on the latest version.

    • Ignored: Lists the drivers that you ignored from being updated. To update an ignored driver, select the driver and click Add Back.

    • Skipped: Lists the drivers that you excluded from being updated. To update a skipped driver, select the driver and click Stop skipping.

    • Security Risk: This driver has a security risk and may make your device easier to access.

    • May Slow Down the PC: This driver version may affect your hardware’s performance. Update the driver to the latest available version to help improve hardware performance.

In some cases, Norton Driver Updater may not be able to successfully update a driver. In such cases, try updating the outdated driver again after some time. You can click Continue and finish updating the remaining outdated drivers, or click Close if there are no outdated drivers to update.
