Turn Norton Community Watch on or off on Mac

Norton Community Watch collects information about potential security risks from your Mac and sends the information to Symantec for analysis. This helps Norton identify new threats and where they originated more efficiently and provide solutions to block them.

Norton Community Watch only collects information on running processes, visited URLs, or general system information from your computer when Norton detects a possible risk. If you do not want to send the security information to Symantec, you can turn off the Norton Community Watch option.

Turn off or turn on Norton Community Watch

  1. Start Norton.

    If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.

  2. In the Norton product main window, click Advanced or Settings.

  3. On the left pane, click Product Settings.

  4. In the Norton Community Watch row, move the switch to off or on.

Does Norton Community Watch send any of my personal information to Symantec?

Symantec collects information to identify and block new security risks and threats. However, the collected information may contain some personally-identifiable information. Symantec does not correlate these files with any personally-identifiable information and does not store these data. Symantec collects these files only for improving the ability of your Norton product. Symantec maintains a high level of protection for the collected information.
