FAQ: Norton Secure VPN End-of-Support for Windows Vista

As of February 7th, 2018, we are ending the Norton Secure VPN support for Windows Vista operating system. No product updates or new versions of Norton Secure VPN will be released for Windows Vista OS.

The following FAQ answers your queries that are related to this End-of-Support announcement.

Why the Norton Secure VPN support for Windows Vista is being discontinued?

  • Microsoft formally announced the Windows Vista end of support on April 11th, 2017. Windows Vista users are no longer receiving any new product or security updates.

    Consequently, to continue providing the necessary system updates that ensure high-quality products and security for our users in future releases, we are ending the Norton Secure VPN support for Windows Vista OS.

How do I know if I have Windows Vista?

  • To find out if you have Windows Vista on your computer, follow these steps:

    • 1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

    • 2. Type in the following text, and then press Enter:


    • 3. In the About Windows screen, you can find the version of Windows that is installed on your computer.

Can I still use Norton Secure VPN on Windows Vista?

  • You may continue to use Norton Secure VPN on your Windows Vista computer. However, you will not receive any product updates or security fixes. Also, you cannot upgrade to or install any newer versions of Norton Secure VPN in future.

    We recommend that you upgrade your operating system, to receive all the latest Norton product updates.
