Junk files, including temporary, installation, or residual files, can impact computer performance. File Cleanup removes many types of junk files, and other clutters that can slow down your Mac.
You can customize the File Cleanup settings to allow your Norton product to notify you if the clutter size exceeds the specified limit. You can also schedule a scan so File Cleanup works in the background without interrupting your work.
You can run a File Cleanup scan to find and remove junk files and other clutter that can slow down your Mac.
Open your Norton device security product.
On the left pane, click Performance.
In the Performance dashboard, in the File Cleanup tile, click Open.
In the Files tab, click Check Now.
After the scan, you can see the result summary where you can select the file categories you want to delete, then click Clean selected junk.
No files are removed from your Mac during an automatic File Cleanup scan.
