This problem occurs in computers with Windows 64-bit operating system, with file path greater than 256 characters. You will still be able to restore previously backed up data, but will not be able to backup new files.

Run LiveUpdate

  1. Start Norton.

  2. In the main window, click Security, and then click LiveUpdate.

  3. When Norton LiveUpdate is finished, click OK.

  4. Run LiveUpdate until you see the message, "Your Norton product has the latest protection updates."

Create a new backup set

  1. Start Norton.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. In the Settings window, click Backup Settings.

  4. Under Backup Settings, next to Manage Backup, click Configure.

  5. On the Summary tab, under Things you can do, click Create new backup set.

  6. Type in a name for your new backup set, and then click OK.

  7. On the What tab, check the drives or My Documents under Sources, from where you want to back up files or folders.

  8. Under File Types, select the file categories that you want to back up.

If you do not want to backup a particular type of file, click on the slider to turn it off. To add additional files or folders, click Add or exclude files and folders, and then click Include File or Include Folder to select the files or folders.
