Message: "We have detected an incompatible version of Norton product..." when installing Norton for Mac from your service provider

To fix this problem, uninstall the Norton product that is currently installed on your Mac, and then install the Norton product from the Downloads folder.

STEP 1

Uninstall Norton

  1. Click the desktop or the Finder icon in the Dock to be in the Finder.

  2. On the menu bar, click Go > Applications.

  3. In the Applications window, find Norton product, and drag it to the trash.

  4. Control-click the Trash icon in the Dock, and then click Empty Trash.

STEP 2

Install Norton

  1. Click the desktop or the Finder icon in the Dock to be in the Finder.

  2. On the menu bar, click Go > Downloads.

  3. Find and open the Install Norton product folder.

  4. Find and double-click the Install Norton product file.

  5. When you see the message "Install Norton product is an application downloaded from the Internet", click Open to continue.

  6. Click Agree & Install to start the installation.

  7. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
