Message: "Installation failed due to insufficient privileges"

To install your Norton product, you need to log on to your Mac with an administrator account. Make sure that your account is an Administrator account.

If you are logged on as a standard user, you need to enter the administrator account credentials when the Install Helper Tool prompts for authentication.

Check your Mac user account type

  1. On the Apple menu, click System Preferences.

  2. Click Users & Groups.

  3. On the left side of the Users & Groups window, view your account name and account type.
