Message: "Norton product is unable to continue. Please restart your Mac to stay protected..." after I install my Norton product for Mac

To fix this problem, uninstall and reinstall your Norton product.

STEP 1

Uninstall Norton Security for Mac

  1. In the Applications folder, double-click Norton Security.

  2. On the menu bar, next to the Apple icon, click Norton Security, and then select Uninstall Norton Security.

    You need to be in the Norton Security application window to get the menu options.

  3. In the Uninstall Norton Security confirmation window, click Uninstall.

  4. Type your Administrator account name and password, and then click Install Helper.

  5. In the uninstaller window, click Restart Now.

STEP 2

Download your Norton product

  1. Sign In to Norton.

  2. If you are not signed in to Norton already, you are prompted to sign in. Type in your email address and password for Norton, and click Sign In.

    If you do not have a Norton account, click Create account and complete the sign-up process.

  3. In the Norton Setup window, click Download Norton.

  4. Click Agree & Download.

  5. Click OK to save and open the Setup.zip file.

  6. When the download finishes, double-click the Norton product Installer.

  7. Click Agree & Install to start the installation.

  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

  9. When LiveUpdate finishes installing updates, click Continue.

  10. In the Installation Successful window, click Restart.

    You must restart your computer to complete the installation process.
