SymDaemon shows high CPU usage on Mac

To fix this problem, uninstall and reinstall your Norton product.

STEP 1

Uninstall Norton

  1. Start Norton.

  2. On the menu bar, next to the Apple icon, click Norton product, and then select Uninstall Norton product.

    You need to be in the Norton product application window to get the menu options.

  3. In the Uninstall Norton product confirmation window, click Uninstall.

  4. Type your Administrator account name and password, and then click Install Helper.

  5. In the uninstaller window, click Restart Now.

STEP 2

Install Norton

  1. Sign In to Norton.

  2. In the Install on this device window, make sure the product name that is displayed is the one you want to install, click Agree & Download.

  3. Click OK to save and open the Setup.zip file.

  4. When the download finishes, double-click the Norton Security Installer.

  5. Click Agree & Install to start the installation.

  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

  7. When LiveUpdate finishes installing updates, click Continue.

  8. In the Installation Successful window, click Restart.

    You must restart your computer to complete the installation process.
