Compatibility of Norton Family with Microsoft Edge browser

Microsoft Edge is a new web browser that is available with Windows 10. It is a completely new browser and not just a new version of Microsoft Internet Explorer. You can have both Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Internet Explorer on your Windows 10 computer.

Norton Family will send a notification to the parent every day to inform them that the Microsoft Edge browser launched.

Currently, Norton Family cannot monitor activity on Microsoft® Edge, the new default browser for Windows 10. If you're thinking about upgrading, or are already using Windows 10, we recommend disabling Microsoft® Edge on any PCs that your children use.

We expect to support activity monitoring on the Edge browser as soon as Microsoft begins allowing browser extensions. Until then, your child must use a compatible browser, such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox for Norton Family to monitor online activity. If you are monitoring your child's web activity, Norton Family will notify you by email if your child uses Microsoft Edge to access the Internet.

We encourage you to use other supported web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox. You can set any of these supported web browsers as your default browser.

Change your default browser

  1. In the main screen, on the bottom-left corner, click the Windows icon, and then click Settings.

  2. In the Settings window, click System.

  3. In the System window, click Default apps.

  4. In the right pane, scroll down to Web browser, and then click Microsoft Edge.

  5. In the Choose an app dialog box, select your preferred web browser.

If you want to set Microsoft Internet Explorer as your default browser but do not see it in the list of browsers, you may need to enable it. For more information, read the section "Enable Microsoft Internet Explorer".

Thank you!

Thank you for using Norton Support.
