Norton Family is the most comprehensive service available to the families who want to safeguard their children's online experiences. This customizable, easy-to-use tool keeps you in the loop when your kids are online, so you can provide guidance and help them make smart choices. It lets you set easy, age-appropriate "house rules" for each child to protect them and make them aware of appropriate online behavior. You can install Norton Family on a Windows desktop or an Android device that your children use.

Setting up Norton Family for the first time involves registering your account with Norton Family, creating user profiles for your kids, and installing Norton Family on your child's computer. To get started with Norton Family, follow these easy steps:


Register your account with Norton Family

  1. Go to the Norton Family website.

  2. Click Log In.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • If you already have a Norton account, sign in using your email address and password.

    • If you do not have a Norton account, click Create an Account, type your details and click Create Account.

  4. Read the Terms of Service and then click Accept.


Set up parent and create a new child profile

  1. Sign in to the Norton Family website using your email address and password.

  2. On the Parents tab, click the settings icon on the parent profile that you want to set up.

  3. Type a display name for your parent account, choose an avatar, select time zone, and click Save.

  4. To add a new child profile, on the Children tab, click Add Child.

  5. Type name, select avatar, gender, and birth year for your child.

  6. Click Next.

  7. Select the accounts that you want to monitor, and click Save.


Install Norton Family on your child's device

  • 1. On the Windows desktop that your child uses, sign in to the Norton Family website using your email address and password.

    2. On the Devices tab, click Add Device.

    3. Click Continue.

    4. When the download finishes, double-click the file that you downloaded.

    Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

    1. On the Android device that your child uses, launch the Play Store app

    2. Search for and install the Norton Family app.

    3. Launch the Norton Family app.

    4. Slide through the Norton Family information screens, and then tap Get Started.

    5. Tap Sign In or Sign Up.

    6. Type your email address and password, and then tap Sign In.

    7. On the Setup screen, tap Child.

    8. Tap Continue.

    9. From the list, tap the child profile that you want to associate the device with.

    10. Based on your child's birth year, Norton Family sets the default house rules. Tap the book icon to review the house rules and then tap Save. You can change the house rules anytime after the setup.

    11. Type a name for the device, and then tap Done.

    12. In the Activate device administrator window, tap Activate.

    13. In the Setup complete window, tap OK.

    1. Sign in to the Norton Family website using your email address and password.

    2. In the Configure Family page, under Devices, tap or click Add Device.

    3. Click Download to download Norton Family Installer.

    4. Tap Get.

    5. If you are prompted, type your Apple ID and password that is bound with the device to authenticate.

    Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Norton Family setup is now complete. You can change or configure the house rules for your child any time later by signing in to Norton Family. For detailed instructions, read Getting started with Norton Family.
