Enable pop-up blocker in your web browser

Applicable for: Mac;Windows

Norton provides multiple layers of defense against malicious software, viruses, or potentially unwanted applications or programs. However, they do not block the pop-up advertisements that come up in your web browsers, because of the feature being available by default in the web browsers.

To enable the pop-up blocker feature, select your browser.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Start Microsoft Edge.

  2. On the top-right corner of the window, click the settings icon, and select Settings.

  3. On the left pane, under Settings, select Cookies and site permissions.

  4. In the Site permissions section, click Pop-ups and redirects.

  5. In the Pop-ups and redirects window, turn on the Block (recommended) switch.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Start Firefox.

  2. On the top-right corner, click the Open menu icon, and click Options.

  3. In the Options window, under Content tab, select Block pop-up windows.

Google Chrome

  1. Start Google Chrome.

  2. On the top-right corner, click the Customize and control Google Chrome icon, and click Settings.

  3. In the Settings window, click Show advanced settings.

  4. Under Privacy, click Content settings.

  5. In the Content settings window, scroll down to Pop-ups, and select Do not allow any site to show pop-ups (recommended).

  6. Click Done.

Safari on Mac

  1. Start Safari on your Mac.

  2. On the menu bar, click Safari, and then select Preferences.

  3. On the Security tab, next to Web content, ensure that Block pop-up windows is checked.
