Error: "Scan Error" and "At Risk" on Norton for Mac

To fix this problem, run LiveUpdate and restart your Mac. If the problem persists, manually update the virus definitions.


Run LiveUpdate

  1. On the Apple menu bar, click Go and then select Applications.

  2. In the Applications window, double-click Norton Security.

  3. In the Norton Security main window, click LiveUpdate.

    Run LiveUpdate until no further updates are available for your Norton product.

  4. When the LiveUpdate finishes, exit all the programs and restart your Mac.

    If the problem persists, go to Step 2.


Update the virus definitions

  1. Download the virus definitions for your Norton product manually.

    The file nis6avdefinitions.pkg is automatically saved to the Downloads folder.

  2. Double-click the file that you downloaded.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the virus definitions.
