Error: "The password is incorrect" appears when you try to change settings

To fix this problem, remove and reinstall Norton. You will not be able to save any custom settings which are configured in Norton.

If you have other Norton products installed, then manually uninstall Norton. If you do not have any other Norton on your computer, run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.

Uninstall Norton

  1. Press the Windows + R to open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type in the following text, and then press Enter.

    appwiz.cpl

  3. In the list of currently installed programs, select the Norton product, and then click Remove or Uninstall.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

  5. When the uninstall completes, restart the computer.

Run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool

  1. Download the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.

    Save the file to the Windows desktop. On some browsers, the file is automatically saved to its default location.

  2. To open the Downloads window in your browser, press the Ctrl + J key.

  3. Double-click the NRnR icon.

  4. Read the license agreement, and click Agree.

  5. Click Advanced Options.

  6. Click Remove Only.

  7. Click Remove.

  8. Click Restart Now.

    After the computer restarts, follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Norton.
