Error: "Install did not finish. A cleanup was performed on your computer to complete the installation..." when I install my Norton product

The error happens if you already have a non-Symantec security product on your computer. Symantec recommends that you run only one antivirus or antispyware product. We suggest that you uninstall any non-Symantec security product from your computer.

Uninstall the non-Symantec security product

    You can also read the program documentation or contact the program manufacturer for instructions to remove a non-Symantec security product from your computer.

  1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type in the following text, and then press Enter.

    appwiz.cpl

  3. In the list of currently installed programs, select the non-Symantec security product, and then click Uninstall or Remove.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

  5. When the uninstall completes, restart the computer.

  6. Double-click the installation file to start the installation again.
