Error: "Error 1935: An error occurred during the installation of assembly component…" when I install Symantec pcAnywhere 12.5

STEP 1

Clean boot Windows with a Selective Startup

  1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

  2. In the Run dialog box, type the following text:

    msconfig

    If the User Account Control window appears, click Yes or Continue.

  3. Depending on your version of Windows, do one of the following:

    • For Windows 8: On the Startup tab, click Open Task Manager.

      On the Task Manager window, under startup, select each startup item and then click Disable.

    • For Windows 7/Vista/XP: On the General tab, under Selective Startup, make sure that Load System Services is the only item checked.

      You will be unable to unselect Use Original BOOT.INI

  4. On the services tab, select Hide all Microsoft services, and then click Disable all.

  5. Click Apply and then OK.

  6. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Restart.

STEP 2

Install Symantec pcAnywhere

  1. Insert the Symantec pcAnywhere CD into the CD-ROM drive.

  2. Click Install Symantec pcAnywhere.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

STEP 3

Restore your computer to its original settings

  1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type in the following text, and then press Enter.

    msconfig

    If the User Account Control window appears, click Yes or Continue.

  3. Under the General tab, select Normal Startup.

    For Windows 7/Vista/XP: Go to step 5.

  4. For Windows 8: In the Startup tab, click Open Task Manager.

    On the Task Manager window, under Startup, select each startup item, and then click Enable.

  5. Click OK.

  6. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Restart
