Setting up TCP/IP host and remote for pcAnywhere 12.x

STEP 1

Set up the host

  1. Start Symantec pcAnywhere.

  2. In the pcAnywhere Manager pane, click Hosts.

  3. Right-click the Network, Cable, DSL icon, and then clickProperties.

  4. Check TCP/IP, but leave the other items unchecked.

  5. Click OK.

  6. Double-click the Network, Cable, DSL icon.

    The pcAnywhere host Status screen minimizes to the taskbar.

  7. Click the pcAnywhere taskbar button to display the pcAnywhere host Status screen.

  8. The pcAnywhere waiting window displays the IP address of the host.

    Write down this address to give to the remote.

STEP 2

Set up the remote

  1. In the pcAnywhere Manager, click Remotes.

  2. Right-click the Network, Cable, DSL icon, and then clickProperties.

  3. On the Connection Info tab, check TCP/IP.

  4. Click Apply.

  5. On the Settings tab, enter the host's IP address in the field provided.

    If you do not know the host's IP address, you can also enter the IP address of the Internet provider, or of the local network, substituting the subnet address with .255.

    If you leave the field blank, pcAnywhere looks on the local TCP/IP network, if there is one present.

  6. Click Apply > OK.

STEP 3

Enter a list of static IP addresses

  1. In the Symantec pcAnywhere window, click Edit > Preferences.

  2. On the Remote Communications tab, enter an IP address for the static host, and click Add Search.

  3. Repeat line 2 until all hosts are entered.

  4. Click Apply > OK.
