Error: "Norton Utilities is missing core application files: <> Please reinstall" when I start Norton Utilities 14.0

STEP 1

Uninstall Norton Utilities

  1. Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.

  2. Depending on your version of Windows, do one of the following:

    • In Windows 7 or Vista, click Uninstall a Program.

    • In Windows XP, double-click Add or Remove Programs.

  3. In the list of currently installed programs, click Norton Utilities, and then click Remove or Uninstall.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall Norton Utilities completely.

    When the uninstall is complete, exit all the programs and restart the computer.

STEP 2

Reinstall Norton Utilities

  1. Do one of the following:

    • If you have the product on a CD, insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive, and then click Install Norton Utilities.

    • If you have downloaded the product, find the product installation file, and then double-click the installation file.

      Unless you saved it elsewhere, it is on your Windows desktop.

      If you do not have the installation file, to re-download Norton Utilities

  2. Click Next.

  3. Read the License Agreement, and then click I accept the agreement.

    You cannot proceed to installation without accepting the License Agreement.

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

    After you complete the installation successfully, the Smart Update starts. Download and install all the available updates, and then activate the product when prompted.
