Fix problems with Norton Online Backup showing the computer status as Computer Not Online

This problem can occur if the Norton Online Backup client fails to establish a connection with the Norton Online Backup server. This problem can be a temporary issue and be fixed by restarting the computer.

If the problem persists after you restart the computer, reinstall the Norton Online Backup over the existing installation.

Do not uninstall Norton Online Backup before you reinstall it. To associate your existing backup settings and data, the Norton Online Backup client should be present in notification area and running on your computer when you reinstall it.

Reinstall Norton Online Backup

  1. Sign in to the Norton Online Backup website using your email address and password.

  2. Click Add a Computer.

  3. Check I have read and agree with the Terms of Service, and then click Download for Windows.

  4. Double-click the NortonOnlineBackup.exe file that you downloaded.

    If you see a Security warning, click Run.

  5. Follow the On-screen instructions to complete the installation.

  6. After you complete the installation, in your browser window that shows Norton Online Backup install instructions, click Done.

  7. In the Welcome to Norton Online Backup pop-up page, click Done.
