Turn off and turn on User Account Control

STEP 1

Turn off User Account Control

  1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type in the following text, and then press Enter.

    UserAccountControlSettings.exe

  3. In the User Account Control Settings window, move the slider to Never notify, and then click OK.

  4. In the User Account Control window, click Yes.

    On Windows Vista: In the User Account Control window, click Continue, and then uncheck Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer.

  5. Exit all the programs, and then restart the computer.

STEP 2

Turn on User Account Control

  1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type in the following text, and then press Enter.

    UserAccountControlSettings.exe

  3. In the User Account Control Settings window, move the slider to choose when you want to be notified.

    If you have not changed the User Account Control settings before, then move the slider to Default - Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer.

    On Windows Vista: Check Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer.

  4. Click OK.

  5. Exit all the programs, and then restart the computer.
