Subscription Expiration Date is displayed as Unknown or N/A in the Norton AntiVirus 11 for Mac program window

To fix this problem, run LiveUpdate until there are no further updates available for your Norton product. If you are still getting the same error, follow the steps in this article to uninstall and reinstall your Norton product.

This problem does not affect the subscription of your Norton product, or the ability to download the latest updates.

Before you begin uninstalling your Norton product for Mac, read:

  • RemoveSymantecMacFiles removes all Symantec Mac OS X files from the Mac OS X boot volume. These files include invisible files, such as Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh QuickScan and Norton FileSaver files.

  • RemoveSymantecMacFiles removes all beta versions of Symantec products.

  • RemoveSymantecMacFiles is provided for your convenience only and is not a supported utility.

RemoveSymantecMacFiles removes all folders created by Norton installers and any files within those folders. You will lose all files that reside in those folders, including that you have created.


Download and run RemoveSymantecMacFiles

  1. Download the file.

  2. Double-click the file that you downloaded.

    The file is expanded.

  3. Open the RemoveSymantecMacFiles folder.

  4. Double-click the RemoveSymantecMacFiles.command file.

    To run this tool, you must be logged in to your Mac with an Administrator account with a non-blank password.

  5. On the application warning dialog box, click Open.

    RemoveSymantecMacFiles.command file is launched in the Terminal utility.

  6. Type your Mac OS X administrator password, and then press return.

    When you type your password, no characters appear.

  7. To remove all Symantec files and folders, type 1, and then press return.

    RemoveSymantecMacFiles removes all of the Symantec files.

  8. Press return.

  9. Before restarting your computer, save your work and close the open applications, type y and then press return.


Install your Norton product for Macintosh

  1. Do one of the following:

    • If you are installing from a CD, insert the Norton product CD into the optical disk drive.

      If the CD window doesn't open automatically, from the desktop, double-click the CD icon to open it.

    • If you downloaded your copy of Norton product, double-click the file that you downloaded.

  2. Double-click Norton product Installer.

    Where Norton product is the name of the Norton product that you are installing.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
