Error: "The Norton Family server is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later" when I disable or configure Norton Family

To check if the issue you are experiencing is related to a known system problem or outage, visit Norton Services Status page.

STEP 1

Check your system date

  1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type in the following text, and then press Enter.

    timedate.cpl

  3. In the Date and Time window, click Change date and time.

  4. Select the correct month, year, and day.

  5. Click Apply, and then click OK.

    Try configuring the Norton Family now. If the problem persists, go to Step 2.

STEP 2

Temporarily disable your firewall (for a brief test)

  1. Start the firewall program.

    Most firewall programs display a small icon in the notification area near the clock. Right-click or double-click the program icon to open it.

  2. Temporarily disable the firewall.

    For instructions, read the program's help or contact the program publisher's support.

  3. In the notification area , right-click the Norton Family icon, and then click Edit Accounts or Update House Rules.

  4. Type your parent email address and password, and then click OK.

  5. Do one of the following:

    • If the error persists, it can be due to a temporary problem with the Norton Family server. Please try again later.

    • If the problem is resolved after disabling your firewall, create a rule in your firewall program to allow connection to the following Norton Family server on port 443:

      o2comm.norton.com

      If you are not sure how to change the firewall settings, contact the firewall program publisher.
