Submit a file or URL to Norton

This document instructs on how to report a false positive (incorrectly detected by Norton) or a false negative (suspicious file not detected by Norton) through the online submission form.

Go to the Norton submission portal to submit the URL or File sample: https://submit.norton.com

Choose the product version you want to report the false positive and false negative detection on the submission portal.

Depending on your product version, do one of the following:
 

Submit File detection on Windows and MacOS

  1. Click File Submission or go to https://safeweb.norton.com/file_dispute.
  2. Depending on you situation, do one of the following:
    • Incorrectly detected by Norton (False Positive)
    • Not detected by Norton (False Negative)
    • Check Status
  3. For False Positive and False Negative submissions, enter the required information and attach the sample. The guidelines for file submission are:
    • Uploads may be a maximum size of 90MB.
    • You may upload a maximum of 6 files in each submission by placing the sample files within a ZIP or RAR archive.
    • Uploads must not be password protected.
  4. Click Submit.
    You will receive an email confirmation once the analysis has been completed.

Submit URL detection on Windows, MacOS, and Safeweb

  1. Click URL Submission or go to https://safeweb.norton.com/
  2. Enter the URL in the field and click on the magnifying glass icon.
    The current Norton rating for the website is provided.
  3. If you are not satisfied with the result, click Submit Dispute.
  4. Enter the following details:
    • Email address
    • Suggested category
    • Comments
  5. Click Submit.
    You will receive an email confirmation once the analysis has been completed.

Submit URL and File detection on Norton mobile app

  1. Click URL and File Submission or go to https://submissions.norton.com/
  2. Depending on your situation, under False positive or False negative, click Open submit form.
  3. Select if your are submitting a URL or a file.
  4. Enter the following details:
    • Email address
    • Detection name
    • Alert ID (Alert ID is located at the bottom of the detected alert popup)
    • Website URL or attach the sample file. The guidelines for file submission are:
      • Uploads can be a maximum size of 50 MB.
      • You may upload a maximum of 1 file by placing the sample file within a ZIP or RAR archive.
      • Uploads must not be password protected.
      • This process is for detected files only. Undetected files will not be processed.
    • Description of the issue
  5. Click Submit.
