Fix problem with Norton Family blocking a social networking website that is allowed

This problem can occur if the 'Discussion' or 'Social Networking' categories are blocked. Configure web supervision settings in Norton Family to allow the 'Discussion' and 'Social Networking' categories to access the social networking website that you want.

Configure the web supervision settings

  1. Sign in to Norton using your email address and password.

  2. Click the child profile that you want to configure the web supervision settings for.

If you have Norton Security Subscription, click the Family tab to access the Norton Family settings.

  3. On the Child's tab, if Web Supervision is grayed out, click to turn it On.

  4. On the Web tile, click the Gear icon.

  5. Under Restriction Level, choose the required level of supervision.

  6. On the Child's House Rules tab, under Web Categories, unblock Discussion and Online Interaction and Social Networking categories.

You cannot update Web Categories if the Supervision Level is set to Monitor.

  7. Type in each social networking website that you want to allow one at a time next to Allowed Websites, and then click +.

  8. Click Save.

  9. On your child's computer, right-click the Norton Family icon in the notification area, and then click Update House Rules.
