Error: "Runtime error...Class factory cannot supply the requested class..." when you open Norton Utilities 14.0


Uninstall Norton Utilities

  1. Exit Norton Utilities.

  2. Click the Start button, and then click Control Panel.

  3. Depending on your version of Windows, do one of the following:

    • On Windows 7 or Vista, click Uninstall a Program.

    • On Windows XP, double-click Add or Remove Programs.

  4. In the list of currently installed programs, click Norton Utilities, and then click Remove or Uninstall.

  5. Click Yes to confirm.

  6. When the uninstallation finishes, exit all the programs and restart the computer.


Reinstall Norton Utilities

  1. Do one of the following:

    • If you have the product on a CD, insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive, and then click Install Norton Utilities.

    • If you have downloaded the product, find the product installation file, and then double-click the installation file.

      Unless you saved it elsewhere, it is on your Windows desktop.

  2. Click Next.

  3. Read the License Agreement, and then click I accept the agreement.

    You cannot proceed to installation without accepting the License Agreement.

  4. Click Next.

  5. If you want to perform Additional Tasks during installation, check Automatically Scan Windows Registry when Windows starts.

    If you want to change the location of the installation folder, click Browse, and then select the new folder to install.

  6. Click Install.

  7. Click Finish.

    After finishing the installation successfully, the Smart Update starts.

  8. Check all the available updates to download, and then click Update.

  9. Click Finish.

    After you finish the Smart Update, you are prompted to activate the product.

  10. Type your name, email address and Activation code.

  11. Click Activate Now.
