We have observed a reporting anomaly when Norton security products are installed on Windows 8 under certain rare conditions. The anomaly blocks the ability of security products to correctly report their status to the Windows Security Center. We believe that issue affects other non-Norton security products too.
However, in our tests and observations, Norton products continue to work at full strength and report their status correctly on the main Norton product user interface although the Windows Security Center shows conflicting information.
To fix this reporting anomaly, we recommend that you run the Hotfix tool from Microsoft.
