Activate Norton Cloud Backup on Windows

Norton Cloud Backup is available only on Windows.

If your subscription includes Cloud Backup, you get free cloud storage as part of your subscription plan. To check if your subscription plan includes Cloud Backup, see View your devices and entitlements on your account.

Backups help protect your data if you become a victim of ransomware or malware, or if you experience major hardware issues. With Cloud Backup, you can back up your files from your Windows devices to a safe cloud storage space. The secure cloud storage is different from the location where you normally store files in your PC. Disasters that damage or destroy your computer cannot harm your backups because they are stored in a different location. You can restore the files to their original location or download them to any device at any time.

Before you activate Cloud Backup, ensure your Windows computer has Norton device security installed. To install Norton device security, read Download and install Norton device security.

Activate Norton Cloud Backup

  1. Start Norton.

    If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.

  2. In the Norton main window, double-click Backup, and then click Backup Sets.

  3. In the Backup Settings window, click the Where tab.

  4. Under Secure Cloud Storage, click the Activate for free link.

  5. When you see a sign-in prompt, type your NortonLifeLock account email address and password and click Sign In.

Sometimes, a back-end service outage or server maintenance can stop you from activating your Cloud Backup. In such cases, try activating after some time. To identify if there is a service outage, check the Norton Service Status page.

After you activate your cloud backup, you can create your backup set and start backing up your files to the secure cloud storage. For more information, see Get started using Norton Cloud Backup.

The cloud storage space varies based on the different subscription plans.
