Common LiveUpdate problems

A back-end service outage can stop LiveUpdate. To identify if there is a service outage, check the Norton Service Status page. In such cases, try running LiveUpdate after some time.

Check for the following easily fixable issues that often cause LiveUpdate problems:

  • Your computer is not connected to the Internet.

  • LiveUpdate running the first time after installation usually takes more time to complete.

  • Your computer has insufficient disk space.

  • Your computer's date and time are not correct.

  • Norton Firewall is not set to allow traffic.

  • Your parental application settings block the connection.

  • Your network proxy settings are not set up correctly.
