Message: "Error Connecting: VPN is having trouble connecting to the server..."

Applicable for: Android;iOS

You may receive an error message when you try to connect to your VPN on your device. To know more on how to fix this issue, read Unable to connect to VPN on my device.

This error is displayed if Norton VPN fails to connect to a VPN server, which can be caused due to temporary problems with your network connection. To fix this problem, wait for some time and try connecting to Norton VPN again. If the issue persists, follow the steps below:

Connect to a different VPN region

To connect to a different VPN region, refer to Manually change the geographic location in Norton VPN.

Check your Internet connection

Try to access the internet. If you are having an issue accessing the Internet when the VPN is disconnected, then, the problem is with the Internet connection to which you are connected.

Exit and restart device

  1. Exit Norton VPN.

    • On iOS - Swipe-up the Norton VPN app to quit.

    • On Android - Go to the recently opened apps and close Norton VPN.

  2. Restart the device.

  3. Open Norton VPN app & sign in with your Norton Account - Allow the Notification and VPN configuration.

Connect to a different network

If you still see the error, connect to a different Wi-Fi network or connect to mobile data connection on your device.
