Change your default browser from Internet Explorer in Windows

Microsoft has announced that it will retire the Internet Explorer browser from June 2022. If you use Internet Explorer as your default browser, you may need to change it to one of the following supported browsers to continue using the Norton Password Manager extension.

  • Google Chrome

  • Microsoft Edge

  • Mozilla Firefox

To change the default browser, depending on the operating system, choose one of the following:

I have Windows 10

  1. On the Windows desktop, click the Start button, and then type Default apps.

  2. In the search results, select Default apps.

  3. Under Web browser, if the browser currently listed is Internet Explorer, click Internet Explorer and select another browser in the Choose an app window.

I have Windows 8.1/8/7

  1. To open the Run dialog box, press the Windows + R keys.

  2. Type in the following text, and then press Enter.

  3. In the Control Panel window, click Programs > Default Programs > Set your default programs.

  4. In the Set your default programs window, under Programs, select a browser of your choice and click Set this program as default.
