Automatic Tasks Delay lets you delay the startup of Norton-specific tasks such as Automatic LiveUpdate that run automatically when you turn on your computer. You can set the automatic tasks delay time after which you want your Norton product to run the tasks.

If the Norton-specific automatic tasks start as soon as you start your computer, the performance of your computer might become slow. Delaying the startup time for such automatic tasks improves the performance and efficiency of your computer.

For example, you set the automatic tasks delay duration as 5 Minutes. In this case, the automatic tasks run automatically after five minutes from the time you started your computer. You can delay the startup time for a minimum of one minute to a maximum of 20 minutes. The default duration is 20 minutes.

To access the Automatic Tasks Delay settings, navigate to Settings > Administrative Settings > Automatic Tasks Delay.

You can obtain a list of automatic background tasks in the Background Tasks window. The automatic tasks include:

  • Automatic LiveUpdate

  • Backing up <backup set name>

  • Disk Optimizer

  • Full Scan

  • Insight Optimizer

  • Internet Explorer History Cleaner

  • Internet Explorer Temporary File Cleaner

  • Norton Community Watch

  • Norton Insight

  • Quick Scan

  • Windows Temporary File Cleaner

  • Password Manager Maintenance

  • AntiSpam Maintenance

  • Licensing Maintenance

  • Insight Maintenance

  • Product Maintenance

The Cloud Backup feature may not be available in some Norton products.
