Your Norton 360 app automatically scans and protects your device from security risks. However, if you suspect that you have a security risk, then you can manually initiate a scan to check for security risks.
While the default Norton Automatic scan settings work well for you, you can use the Automatic Scan option to schedule scans at specific times.
From the home screen, launch the Norton 360 app.
On the Norton 360 app main screen, tap Run Smart Scan.
The Norton 360 app scans your device for files and apps that are installed on your device. If there are items that require attention, review the security risks on the Security screen.
Currently, you cannot view the manual scan details in the Activity Log section.
The Last Scanned date on the Norton app Home screen updates only after a manual Smart Scan. However, the Scheduled (Automatic) Scans protect your device in the background, but do not change the Last Scanned date. An outdated date means only that you have not run a manual scan recently. To update, open the app and on the Home screen, tap Run Smart Scan.
From the home screen, launch the Norton 360 app.
At the bottom of the Norton 360 app main screen, tap Account, then tap Settings.
Tap Security, and under the Scans section, tap Automatic Scan. Ensure the slider at the bottom of the screen is On.
To view the Automatic scan activity details, navigate to the main screen and at the bottom tap Account > Settings > Activity Log > Malware scan ran due to schedule.
For scheduled scans to run as configured, ensure the Norton app is not restricted by battery optimization. Go to Device Settings > Apps > Norton 360 > App battery usage > Allow background usage > Unrestricted. If restrictions are in place, the scheduled scan may be delayed or skipped by the OS.
From the home screen, launch the Norton 360 app.
On the Norton 360 app main screen, tap Run Smart Scan.
The Norton 360 app scans your device for files and apps that are installed on your device. If there are items that require attention, review the security risks on the Security screen.
