The Safe Web feature is designed to proactively block new or unknown malware programs before they attack your computer. Protecting your browser, your Norton product helps secure sensitive information and prevents attackers from controlling your system remotely.
With Safe Web turned on, your Norton product helps block malware before it can attack. It helps protect your sensitive information and prevent attackers from accessing your computer.
Open your Norton device security product.
On the left pane, click Security.
Navigate to Advanced Security > Web > Safe Web.
In the Safe Web window, in the Settings tab, turn on or turn off the following settings:
Website Scanning: Scans for malicious websites and helps block malware as you browse the Internet.
HTTPS scanning: Ensures that encrypted (HTTPS) and unencrypted (HTTP) websites are scanned for potential threats.
QUIC/HTTP3 scanning: Scans communications sent and received via Google's QUIC protocol.
Web socket protocol scanning: Scans communications sent and received via web socket protocol.
DNS/DoH scanning: Scans communications over DNS and encrypted DNS (DNS over HTTPS or DoH) protocols.
Protect against botnets: Prevents botnets from using your computer to attack other computers. When this option is turned on, your Norton product detects and helps block botnets from connecting to malicious command-and-control servers. This way, cybercriminals cannot use botnets to remotely control your computer.
Generate report file: Helps you generate a log file of all the Browser Protection activities.
You can find the report file in the following location: C:\ProgramData\Norton\Antivirus\report
Download Intelligence: Helps protect your computer against unsafe files you download.
Download Intelligence uses the reputation details of executable file you download using the browser to download the file first in the Sandbox environment. Based on the analysis performed in Sandbox, Download Intelligence decides whether the downloaded file is safe to install. In case the file is unsafe, Download Intelligence blocks the execution of the file and notifies you about the detected threat.
There may be times when you want to turn off Safe Web. For example, if you want to download an unsafe file. In this case, you must turn off Safe Web so that your Norton product lets you download the file and does not remove it from your computer.
When you turn off Safe Web, you must specify the amount of time for which you want it to be turned off. When the time that you specify concludes, the feature automatically gets enabled.
We recommend keeping Safe Web turned on to help protect your browser against attacks by malicious websites.
