Download and install your Norton device security app

Introduction and prerequisites

This guide provides instructions to help you download and install your Norton device security app. Ensure you have an active Norton subscription and access to your Norton account.

Scope

This article covers the process of downloading and installing Norton device security apps on various operating systems.

When this applies

This applies when you need to install your Norton device security app on a new device or reinstall it on an existing one. It also applies when you need to download the app from your Norton account or app store.

This does NOT apply if you are encountering technical issues preventing installation that are not covered by the provided steps, or if you need assistance with account-related problems outside of the installation process.

Step-by-step instructions

Windows

For China, Japan, and Korea: If your Norton app is not registered to your account, check the purchase confirmation email which includes the app key and link to download your Norton app. Once the installation is complete, follow the on-screen instructions to create an account to install on additional devices.

To install and use the Norton device security app, ensure your computer meets the following minimum system requirements:

  • Microsoft Windows 11/10 (all versions except Windows 11/10 in S mode)

  • Microsoft Windows 11 with ARM processors, except for mixed reality and IoT editions

  • Microsoft Windows 8/8.1 (all versions). Some protection features are not available in Windows 8 Start screen browsers.

  • Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) with Service Pack 1 (SP 1) or later with SHA2 support

Windows support includes devices with x86/x64 and Snapdragon X (Plus and Elite) ARM chips.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

  1. Sign in to your account.

  2. Enter your username or email address.

  3. Choose one of the following sign-in methods:

    • Sign in with a one-time passcode: Click Continue. In the Request on-time passcode window, select how you want to receive the code: either your registered email address or mobile number (if available), then click Continue > Enter the passcode and click Verify.

    • Sign in using your password: Click Use password. Enter your password and click Sign In.

    • Sign in with a third-party account: Click sign in with GoogleApple ID, or Microsoft (if already linked).

  4. In the dashboard page, click Download.
    If you want to install a different subscribed product, go to My Subscriptions. In the My Subscriptions tab, select the Norton app with an active subscription and click Download or share.

  5. In the Get Started page, click Download.

  6. If you are installing on Windows 11 or 10 in S mode, click Get it from Microsoft and follow the prompts to install from the Microsoft Store.

  7. Once the download completes, run the installer from your browser, press Ctrl+J to open the Downloads window, and double-click the file you downloaded. 

  8. If the User Account Control window appears, click Continue and follow the on-screen instructions.

Mac

Norton device security for Mac is a comprehensive security application that helps block viruses, spyware, and other malicious threats. Additionally, it helps protect you and your data against dangerous fake websites, ransomware, and hackers while you are online.

To install your Norton device security app on Mac, you need to have macOS High Sierra 10.13.x or later. To know the version of the Mac operating system installed on your Mac, click the Apple menu icon apple_menu , then click About This Mac.

  1. Sign in to your account.

  2. Enter your username or email address.

  3. Choose one of the following sign-in methods:

    • Sign in with a one-time passcode: Click Continue. In the Request on-time passcode window, select how you want to receive the code: either your registered email address or mobile number (if available), then click Continue > Enter the passcode and click Verify.

    • Sign in using your password: Click Use password. Enter your password and click Sign In.

  4. In the dashboard page, click Download.
    If you want to install a different subscribed app, go to My Subscriptions. In the My Subscriptions tab, select the Norton app with an active subscription and click Download or share.

  5. In the Get Started page, click Download.

  6. Before you install, we recommend that you click Norton License Agreement and read your product license agreement.

Android

You can download and install the Norton 360 app to protect your mobile device and the information it stores against digital threats.

You can directly download and install the Norton 360 app on your mobile device, or you can send yourself from within your account an email or a text message, or copy the link with download instructions and access it on your mobile device. You can also scan the QR code to download the Norton 360 app on your mobile. Use any QR code scanner to capture the code. 

To install the Norton 360 app on your Android device, you need to have Android 10.x or later.

  1. On your Android device, launch the Google Play Store app, and search for the Norton 360 app.

  2. On the Norton 360 app screen, tap Install.

  3. When the installation finishes, tap Open.

  4. Read and accept the License and Services Agreement, acknowledge our Global Privacy Statement, and then tap Sign in.

  5. Enter your username or email address.

  6. In the Choose how to get your code screen, select how you want to receive the code: either your registered email address or mobile number (if available), then enter the passcode.

  7. Click Next > Get started.

  8. To ensure complete protection, you need to grant permissions in your device settings to continue using the App Security, Internet Security, and Wi-Fi Security features.

  9. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up and allow the required protection settings.

    The instructions may vary depending on your device, device manufacturer, and operating system.

iOS

You can download and install the Norton 360 app to protect your mobile device and the information it stores against digital threats.

You can directly download and install the Norton 360 app on your mobile device, or you can send yourself from within your account an email or a text message, or copy the link with download instructions and access it on your mobile device. You can also scan the QR code to download the Norton 360 app on your mobile. Use any QR code scanner to capture the code. 

To install the Norton 360 app on your iOS device, you need to have iOS 17.x or later.

  1. On your iOS device, launch the Apple App Store app, and search for the Norton 360 app.

  2. On the Norton 360 app screen, tap GET or the download icon.

  3. When the installation finishes, tap Open.

  4. Read and accept the License and Services Agreement, acknowledge our Global Privacy Statement, then tap Redeem a subscription.

  5. Do one of the following:

    • Tap Sign in and enter your username or email address. In the Enter code screen, select how you want to receive the code: either your registered email address or mobile number (if available), then enter the passcode.

    • Tap Activate with a product key and enter the code that you have received.

  6. Click Next > Allow.
