Error: "Error! Installation cannot continue! An incompatible Windows driver has been detected..." when installing Norton Utilities 16.0

Run the install from the Symantec Download Manager Folder

  1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type the following text, and then press Enter.

    %temp%

    The current user's Temp folder opens in Windows Explorer.

  3. Open the Symantec Download Manager folder.

  4. Double-click the Install.exe file to start the installation.

    Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Download and install AMD chipset drivers

  1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type in the following text, and then press Enter.

    devmgmt.msc

  3. In the Device Manager window, click to expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.

  4. Under the list of controllers, if Standard SATA AHCI Controller is displayed, Download and install AMD chipset drivers.

    Save the file on to your desktop.

  5. Double-click the file that you downloaded to start the installation of AMD chipset drivers.

  6. Follow on-screen instructions.

  7. In the Device Manager window, click to expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.

  8. Under the list of controllers, confirm if AMD SATA Controller is displayed.

  9. Reinstall Norton Utilities.

Uninstall Standard SATA AHCI Controller

  1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type in the following text, and then press Enter.

    devmgmt.msc

  3. In the Device Manager window, click to expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.

  4. Right click Standard SATA AHCI Controller, and then click Uninstall.

  5. Do not restart the computer if prompted.

  6. Run Norton Utilities 16 installer.
