Allow Windows services blocked by Norton on a public network

When the trust level of your network is set to Public, Smart Firewall blocks Windows network activities, including network discovery, file and printer sharing, and remote desktop connections. You can allow these network activities by configuring Public Network Exceptions to turn individual services on.

Allow Windows services blocked by Norton Smart Firewall on your Public network

  1. Open your Norton device security product.

  2. On the left pane, click Security.

  3. In the Security dashboard, navigate to Advanced Security > Network > Smart Firewall and open the Smart Firewall window.

  4. In the General tab, under Additional settings, click Configure next to the Public Network Exceptions row.

  5. In the Public Network Exceptions window, in the Public networks column, enable the rule for the services.
