Fix Norton Utilities Ultimate product errors

This article is intended to help you resolve product errors that you may encounter while using Norton Utilities Ultimate.

Select your product error:

Error: "Sorry, we couldn't finish optimizing."

This error appears when the disk optimization session gets interrupted for unknown reasons.

To resolve this issue, do the following:

  1. Restart your computer.

  2. Open Norton Utilities Ultimate.

  3. Run the optimizing task again.

If issue persists, uninstall and reinstall Norton Utilities Ultimate.

  1. Uninstall Norton Utilities Ultimate (see instructions).

  2. Restart your computer.

  3. Reinstall Norton Utilities Ultimate (see instructions).

Error: "Sorry, we couldn't finish optimizing due to low disk space."

This error appears when your computer is running low on disk space.

To resolve this issue, do the following:

  1. Check the available free disk space.

  2. If available space is low, clean up system junk to free up some space.

  3. Restart your computer.

  4. Run the optimizing task again.

If issue persists, uninstall and reinstall Norton Utilities Ultimate.

  1. Uninstall Norton Utilities Ultimate (see instructions).

  2. Restart your computer.

  3. Reinstall Norton Utilities Ultimate (see instructions).

Error: "Well, this is embarrassing... sorry we've run into a problem. Please try again later." while running disk check

Click Try again to check whether the issue resolves automatically. If issue persists, do the following:

  1. Restart your computer.

  2. Open Norton Utilities Ultimate.

  3. Run disk check again.

If issue still persists, uninstall and reinstall Norton Utilities Ultimate.

  1. Uninstall Norton Utilities Ultimate (see instructions).

  2. Restart your computer.

  3. Reinstall Norton Utilities Ultimate (see instructions).

Error: "Well, this is embarrassing... sorry we've run into a problem. Please try again later."

To resolve this issue, restart your computer.

If issue still persists, uninstall and reinstall Norton Utilities Ultimate.

  1. Uninstall Norton Utilities Ultimate (see instructions).

  2. Restart your computer.

  3. Reinstall Norton Utilities Ultimate (see instructions).

Error: "Sorry, we couldn't finish defragmenting"

To resolve this issue, do the following:

  1. Check the available free disk space.

  2. If available space is low, clean up system junk to free up some space.

  3. Restart your computer.

  4. Open Norton Utilities Ultimate.

  5. Run the disk defragmentation task again.

If issue still persists, uninstall and reinstall Norton Utilities Ultimate.

  1. Uninstall Norton Utilities Ultimate (see instructions).

  2. Restart your computer.

  3. Reinstall Norton Utilities Ultimate (see instructions).

Error: "The Data (D:) is write protected. Please try again later."

To resolve this issue, remove the write protection on your disk and then click Try again.

If issue persists, do the following:

  1. Restart your computer.

  2. Open Norton Utilities Ultimate.

  3. Run the disk check again.

If issue still persists, uninstall and reinstall Norton Utilities Ultimate.

  1. Uninstall Norton Utilities Ultimate (see instructions).

  2. Restart your computer.

  3. Reinstall Norton Utilities Ultimate (see instructions).

Error: "Update failed"

The update did not complete due to an internal error. To resolve this issue, click Try again.

If issue persists, do the following:

  1. Restart your computer.

  2. Open Norton Utilities Ultimate.

  3. Run the LiveUpdate task again.

If issue still persists, uninstall and reinstall Norton Utilities Ultimate.

  1. Uninstall Norton Utilities Ultimate (see instructions).

  2. Restart your computer.

  3. Reinstall Norton Utilities Ultimate (see instructions).

Error: "There's no internet connection"

This error appears when there is no Internet connection. Check and restore your Internet connection, and then click Try again.

Error: "Sorry, Norton Utilities Ultimate is not supported in your current location."

Norton Utilities Ultimate is currently not available in your region. You may not be able to use the product.

Error: "Conflicting app"

This error appears if you have a conflicting utility product such as Avast Cleanup.

To resolve this problem, identify and uninstall the conflicting app and restart your computer. If issue persists, uninstall and reinstall Norton Utilities Ultimate.

Warning: "Are you sure your want to select Downloads?"

We have detected that you selected the Downloads folder for cleaning. We recommend that you check the Downloads folder for any important or irreplaceable files.
