Activate Norton Cloud Backup

Norton Cloud Backup is available only on Windows.

If your subscription includes Cloud Backup, you get free cloud storage as part of your subscription plan. To check if your subscription plan includes Cloud Backup, see View your devices and entitlements on your Norton account

Backups help protect your data if you become a victim of ransomware or malware, or if you experience major hardware issues. With Cloud Backup, you can back up your files from your Windows devices to a safe cloud storage space. The Secure Cloud Storage is different from the location where you normally store files in your PC. Disasters that damage or destroy your computer cannot harm your backups because they are stored in a different location. You can restore the files to their original location or download them to any device at any time.

STEP 1

Install Norton device security on Windows

    If you have already installed Norton device security, go to Step 2.

  1. Sign in to your account.

  2. Type in your email address and password for Norton, and click Sign In.

    If you do not remember your Norton account password, then click Forgot username or password? and follow the on-screen instructions to recover your lost password.

  3. In the My Norton portal, click Download.

  4. In the Get Started page, click Agree & Download.

  5. Once the download completes run the installer from your browser, press Ctrl + J key, to open the Downloads window in your browser, and double-click the file that you downloaded.

  6. If the User Account Control window appears, click Continue.

  7. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

    After you install Norton device security, go to Step 2.

STEP 2

Activate Norton Cloud Backup

  1. Start Norton.

    If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.

  2. In the Norton main window, double-click Backup, and then click Backup Sets.

  3. In the Backup Settings window, click the Where tab.

  4. Under Secure Cloud Storage, click the Activate for free link.

  5. When you see a sign-in prompt, type your Norton account email address and password and click Sign In.

After you activate your cloud backup, you can create your backup set and start backing up your files to the Secure Cloud Storage. For more information, see Get started using Norton Cloud Backup.

The cloud storage space varies based on the different subscription plans.
