We are retiring local vault from legacy Password Manager
Users who are using the Local Vault will be migrated to Online Vault
Online Vault has numerous advantages to Local Vault
No mobile apps are available for Local Vault (iOS & Android apps are available for Online Vault)
Browser plugin for Local Vault is available only for outdated browsers (IE and old Edge), while Online Vault supports most modern browsers (Chrome, Chromium, New Edge browser, Mozilla Firefox, Safari)
Local Vault is Windows only, while Online Vault is multiplatform
Export data from local vault and import in new online vault
After the Local Vault EOL date, the Password Manager icon in the main Norton Security product UI and/or browser extension will redirect users to the export flow.
Start your Norton device security product.
If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.
In the Norton main window, double-click Internet Security, and then click Password Manager.
In the Norton Password Manager window, click the Settings icon available at the bottom of the window.
Click the Import/Export tab.
In the Export pane, select the file format. You can select one of the following:
Password Manager Backup Format – DAT File. If you want to back up your data with a password for more security, type and confirm the password.
Plain Text – CSV file (Logins & Notes only)
You can access your vault backups at My DocumentsNorton Password Manager Backups<Norton account name>.
Click Export.
In the Validate Password for Password Manager window, type your vault password to export your Password Manager data.
Click OK to confirm.
Open browser and navigate to URL: https://my.norton.com/extspa/passwordmanager?redirected=fromlegacy
Click Install to get the Online Vault browser extension.
Follow the on-screen instructions:
Select Norton Password Manager from the extension toolbar.
Select Next in Set Up Your Web Browser Section.
User can either use an existing Norton Account Login (Apple ID and Google ID are supported) or create a new Norton Account.
User needs to provide valid email address and password for the new Norton Account.
User can continue with their existing Apple or Google ID. A new Norton Account will be created and linked to their respective ID.
After authentication with Telekom login, user is prompted to create online vault password:
User is prompted for import their file with exported data. User can export data anytime later.
This is part of the onboarding flow. It can be set up anytime later:
Launch your browser.
Click on the Norton Password Manager icon in the top right corner of your browser.
Enter your Norton Account password and click Sign in.
Enter your Vault password and click Open Vault.
In the top right corner, click the Norton Password Manager icon.
Click the Settings menu icon
Select Import.
In the Import Passwords window, select the right Source.
Click Download.
Click Select File and select the exported data file.
In the Import Data window of Norton Password Manager, select the data you want to protect in your vault, and click Import.
Click Finish.
